Olympic Fever -- Catch It!  I wish I could, but I have to go on another rant here... as a former swimmer I've always been into watching the swimming in the summer Olympics.  This year is no exception, with all the hype built around Baltimore-native Michael Phelps.  But I'm also a bit of an Internet news junkie, and therein lies the rub...as I routinely check my Internet news throughout the workday, I accidentally read the nightly swimming results from Greece for the events that will be televised that night.  I hate spoilers!  So I'm not even as interested in watching the events since I know the results.  You'd think NBC would know that and not want to tell us the results so that we want to tune in and watch in prime time, raising their ratings so they can charge millions for advertising, but no...last night on the NBC News they announced the latest results for Michael Phelps and other Americans.  Wha?!  I can't blame the Internet for this, it all boils down to money and greed for the media companies.  If NBC wouldn't give us Olympic results, viewers might go elsewhere for it.  Interesting catch-22, eh?  Well, on the bright side, we're heading to the beach for 5 days on Friday, with no access to the Internet, so I plan on watching the final few days of Olympic swimming spoiler-free.

So as luck would have it, the beachhouse had DishTV...which doesn't have local network channels! So no prime-time Olympic viewing, just the leftover events on Bravo & CNBC. Plenty of volleyball, soccer, rowing, etc...but no swimming. Frak!
